New Facility Opens to Provide the Coast Greater Employment opportunities
18 August 2022
With many businesses across the Central Coast struggling to find skilled workers, one group in particular are leading the way in upskilling residents to find them their dream role, right on their doorstep.
It is no secret that over the past four years, the Central Coast has seen a shift in demographics. Heightened by the Covid-19 pandemic and remote working, many city dwellers have opted to move their families from the hustle and bustle of city life in favour of our pristine beaches and laid-back lifestyle.
For years, residents of the Coast faced long commutes into the cities for the benefit of their careers but that is slowly starting to change.
Along with the change in residents, our Coastal economy is changing too. The Coast is welcoming big businesses, increased residential and commercial developments as well as greater funding and with that comes jobs, lots of them.
With any demographic shift comes opportunity. Intercept Training Group, who have been running job ready training courses on the Central Coast and Newcastle for over 23 years’ have just launched their brand new Safety Training Facility in Tuggerah.
The state of the art training facility focuses on the construction industry, providing courses such as; white card, enter and work in confined spaces, working safely at heights and forklift licences.
John Forsyth, Owner and Director of Intercept Training Group explains why they felt a dedicated training centre was needed here on the Coast.
“We have seen a real demand for construction qualifications. Whilst we have always offered the white card and traffic control, with the inception of big businesses and greater construction happening across the Coast, it made sense to expand our award-winning training services to cover a great skillset in this area.” John explains.
“Whilst our other training locations provide fantastic facilities for learning across a wide mix of disciplines for every industry, some construction courses such as the forklift licence and working at heights, need much greater space to facilitate.”
“It made sense for us to obtain a large warehouse where these courses could be provided to an exceptional level of service all under one roof.” John concludes.
Brett Watters, General Manager of Intercept Training explains that construction is no longer a male dominated industry.
“Gone are the days of all-male training sessions, we are seeing an increase in females keen to work in the construction industry and many large construction businesses are really supporting this which is fantastic,” Brett explains.
“We wanted to create a really comfortable space with the very best equipment and trainers locally, that was easily accessible for residents from anywhere on the Coast,”
“We have longstanding partnerships with hundreds of businesses and job providers and regularly achieve over 90% work placement rate after someone has completed a course with us.” Brett concludes.
The new safety training facility opens on X August 2022 and courses are already filling fast. If you’re interested in training for the job you want, head on over to
